Choose who can read your Rolly chats
The workspace owner can read your Rolly chats, and so can teammates given shared chats. Make a chat private so only you can see it.
Before you start
Steps
Click Rolly in the sidebar to open the Rolly page.
Open the Recent conversations… list at the top and pick your chat.
Click the button at the top that says who can see the chat, such as Only you or 2 can see. A panel opens with Who can see this chat and the name of each person who can read it.
Turn on Private. You'll see "Only you can see this chat", and the button now says Only you.
To share the chat again, turn Private off. You'll see "No longer private".
Who can read your chats
The workspace owner can read every chat on the workspace's brands, except chats marked private. Everyone else, admins included, sees only their own chats, unless the owner or an admin gives them shared Rolly chats. Only the person who started a chat can send messages in it or delete it.
Share your team's Rolly chats with a teammate
The workspace's owner or an admin can let a teammate read everyone's Rolly chats on the brands that teammate works on, including new ones.
- Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then click Workspace settings. It opens on the Team tab.
- Find your teammate under Members.
- Turn on Rolly chats on their row.
When you invite someone new, you can tick Share Rolly conversations before you click Send invite. Chats marked private stay hidden from them either way.
When you open a chat someone shared with you
The chat shows shared with you in the Recent conversations… list. You can read it, but in place of the box you'll see "Shared with you to read. Only the person who started it can continue it. Start a new chat to ask your own." Click New to ask your own question.
Deleting a chat
Click the bin icon at the top of the Rolly page, then click Delete. The chat and anything Rolly prepared in it that you didn't apply are removed. Posts and other changes you already applied stay.
If you can't change who sees your chat, it's likely one of these reasons
There's no button at the top saying who can see the chat. The chat was started by a teammate, and only they can change it. On a phone, the button is behind Chat options at the top.
There's no Rolly chats switch on a teammate's row. You're not the workspace's owner or an admin, or the row is the owner's. The owner can already read every chat that isn't private.
"Could not change who can see this chat" The change didn't reach SocioRolla. Check your connection and try again.
