Before you start

Steps

  1. Open Posts and click New post.

  2. Choose the platforms the post is for, then click Continue.

  3. Add the media. From Library reuses files already uploaded to the brand, so pick one there and click Continue.

  4. Write the caption, then click Continue.

  5. Check the post settings, then click Continue.

  6. Check the preview and the pre-flight checklist, then click Continue.

  7. On Schedule, open the Schedule tab and pick a day and time.

  8. Under Approval, choose Requires approval. The post is held until someone you choose approves it.

  9. Tick the client (or teammate) who should approve it. Only the people you tick are notified.

  10. Click Schedule for and the date. The post is held, and your client gets an email with a link to it.

  11. The client opens the link. They don't need an account: they see the post exactly as it will publish.

  12. The client can click Approve, Reject, or Request changes to say what should change, and can leave a comment under the post. If they reject it or ask for changes, edit the post and it goes back to them. Everyone you asked to approve it gets an email again.

Tip: Clients can approve from their phone; the link works without an account.

  13. You get a notification when the client approves. The post stays scheduled and publishes at the time you set.

Who can approve

The picker lists teammates who can approve under Team and the brand's clients under Clients. You aren't in the list yourself. Only the people you tick are told about the post, and a client who couldn't approve posts before can approve this one.

Adding a client as an approver

If the brand has no clients yet, click Invite a client under the approvers and enter their name and email. They're added when you schedule the post, and the approval request is the first email they get.

What your client can do

Approve lets the post publish at its time. Request changes asks for a note saying what to change, and Reject can take one. You get a notification for each, with their note. If they ask for changes or reject it, edit the post and it goes back to them: everyone you named is emailed again and the reminder starts over, and the post's Approval panel says who it went back to.

Posting now

Approval is only offered for a post scheduled for later. A post sent with Post now goes out straight away.
