# Create and schedule your first post

Write a post once, choose where it goes and pick the day and time it publishes.

## Steps

1. Open **Posts** in the sidebar and click **New post**.

2. Tick the connected accounts the post should go to, then click **Continue**. Only accounts connected to this brand are listed.

3. Add a photo or video. Upload one from your computer, or click **From Library** to reuse a file already in the brand's library, then click **Continue**.

   Tip: Click an image after adding it to crop it or write its alt text.

4. Write the caption in the text box, then click **Continue**.

5. **Settings** holds the options each platform allows for this post. Check them, then click **Continue**.

6. Check the preview and the pre-flight checklist, then click **Continue**.

7. Open the **Schedule** tab and pick a day and a time, on the brand's clock. **Post now** publishes straight away instead. Leave **Approval** on **Auto-post** so it publishes by itself.

8. Click the **Schedule for** button, which shows the date you picked. The app opens the **Calendar**, and the post publishes on its own at that time.

9. The post now shows as scheduled in **Posts** and on the **Calendar**, where you can open it to edit or reschedule it before it goes out.

### Other ways to publish

- **Post now** publishes as soon as you confirm.
- **Optimal time** suggests times from the account's audience data, on the paid plans.
- **Save draft**, at the top of the composer, keeps the post without scheduling it.

### Changing a scheduled post

Open it from **Posts** or the **Calendar** to edit or reschedule it before it goes out. Times always follow the time zone in **Brand settings**.
